The purpose of the center is to promote and support the use of technology in the academic program at Lipscomb University. This includes activities in the classroom environment as well as those using distributed learning techniques.
Responsibilities of the Center for Instructional Technology:
• provide training and support to faculty in the use of technology in the academic programs
• assist faculty in the selection of software/hardware in academic environments
• assist in designing academic spaces for instructional technology
• monitor the instructional technology needs of the university
• provide data to the administration on instructional technology needs
• consult with the Computer Center on CIT needs
• coordinate and plan the use of distributed learning at the university
• coordinate activities with organizations such as eCollege, WebCT, etc.
• maintain a resource center to assist faculty in developing materials for their courses
Instructional Technology Services This division of the Center provides support to faculty in the use of audiovisual equipment in the classroom. Responsibilities of Instructional Technology Services:
• maintain audiovisual equipment in the classroom
• schedule and coordinate delivery of audiovisual equipment to faculty that is not assigned to a specific classroom
• answer questions and accept requests for equipment needs
• demonstrate and train faculty/staff on use of equipment in classrooms
• troubleshoot problems that occur during a class or presentation
• recommend/coordinate the installation of new equipment
• record and inventory all equipment in classrooms
• perform routine maintenance on equipment
• schedule the Media Center classroom
